7. The missing trading advice that everyone needs to know in chosing a method
I haven’t yet figured out whether its a conspiracy that is keeping this knowledge from being common place, whether its through ignorance, or whether its just because some people don’t seem to need it.
Nevertheless, in this blog post I’d like to share with you a piece of trading advice that had the biggest impact in me becoming consistently profitable - in terms of method.
Before I do, I want to say that its not the intention of this blog to tell you which methodology to use, or which is best. As I said in my last post, everyone is different, and you have to find what works for you. The research and inquiry is a part of the process of becoming a trader. Nevertheless, I do appreciate that there is so much snake oil out there, that sometimes its hard to weed through the jungle and find the good stuff. The folks over at Trading’s Best are doing a great job of starting to weed the jungle - check it out, and help the process by voting and adding your comments about the different services they’ve highlighted.
What I do want to do in this blog is give you some pointers, some trading advice based on what’s worked for me, to guide your search process.
So what is the missing ingredient?
Time.
Let me explain. Most traders will tell you that price is ALL important. And many traders make thier decisions about entering a trade solely on the basis of price. Many trading methods and systems operate only taking price into account. And as a result many traders - losing traders - get chopped to death, or drown in sea of price action.
What if there was a way to step back from price action and gain some perspective on the market you are trading? What if you din’t have to worry about moment to moment price changes but could bide your time and wait for the perfect moment to enter?
You can…when you start making time as important as price in your method.
